Over the last few years, my wife and I have visited nudist spots across the country. New York is the center of so much but how about some fun nudist options? What is available for New York nude beaches and New York nudist resorts?
New York does have some great options to spend time in the nude. New York nude beach options are fairly limited, but there is a nearby option that is one of the best in the country. There are a few New York nudist resorts and some travel options that are pretty easy and affordable.
So let’s take a look at all that New York has to offer. We will look at New York nude beach options, New York nudist resorts, and New York nudist groups. There are some fun nudist options available in the Empire State.
New York Nude Beaches and Resorts Table

From the table above, you can see that there are a few options to go nude in New York. Considering that this is a cold-weather state, the options are not that bad.
While there are no New York nude beaches where you can go totally nude, topless sunbathing is legal in the state. This is pretty acceptable on at least one New York beach. Additionally, New York is right next door to one of the busiest nude beaches in the country.
You will also find a couple of New York nude resorts listed in the table. These are not the big resorts that you might find down south but they are nice additions to the list.
If you are researching the nudity lifestyle, then I suggest checking out these spots for yourself. My wife and I have found that this lifestyle is very fun and we have met so many awesome people.
New York Nude Beaches
Unfortunately, there are no public New York nude beaches that officially allow complete nudity. New York’s public lewdness law makes public nudity illegal.
While there are some public places in New York where public nudity is said to be accepted, you go nude at your own risk. Be very careful in these situations as you do not want to be put in a situation where you could face arrest. Especially, when there are other options.
Additionally, topless sunbathing is legal in New York is legal (source). So basically women can go topless at any beach but this is still not socially acceptable at most of them.
I have included below sections on two beaches. One is Lighthouse Beach where it used to be acceptable to go totally nude but now has a different policy. It is still reported to be a popular spot for some to go nude.
The second beach section is on the nearby Gunnison Beach which may be your best shot at a nude beach. This beach is one of the most popular nude beaches in the country right next door to New York.
A great alternative to New York nude beaches would be the nudist resorts and campgrounds. So while these are not technically New York nude beaches, they are places where you can legally soak up the sun poolside while being naked. Lighthouse Beach Fire Island

This public beach is part of the Fire Island National Seashore on Long Island. Prior to 2013, it was a clothing-optional beach in some sections. Since 2013, nudity is no longer accepted and is not recommended as it is technically a violation of the law.
Some people report that they still utilize this beach as a nude beach, but you do so at your own risk. However, it is legal in New York for women to go topless and this beach is an area where this is more acceptable.
Gunnison Beach

Ok, I know that this beach is in New Jersey and not New York. But it is really close to New York and used by tons of people from New York. For that reason, I am including it in the listings for both New York nude beaches and New Jersey nude beaches.
Gunnison beach is the largest nude beach on the east coast of the United States. It has a great view of New York City and is very popular in the summer months.
This is one of those rare beaches where it is not only socially acceptable but also legal to take it all off and enjoy the sun in the buff. You can find close to a thousand nude sunbathers here on a hot summer day.
You will find all different ages and body types here so do not be bashful about baring it all.
Visiting Gunnison Beach is free. Use parking lot G in the Fort Hancock area of the Sandy Hook Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area.
This is the best nude beach you will encounter north of Florida.
Additional Possible New York Nude Beaches
The following are a number of spots in New York where it is reportedly acceptable to go nude. Once again, this is not technically legal and you do so at your own risk.
Alice Falls
This is a reported New York nude swimming spot near a beautiful waterfall in Keeseville, NY.
Skinny Dip Falls
Skinny Dip Falls is a remote gorge with waterfalls and multiple swimming holes. There are rocks with painted signs indicating nude sunbathing areas. The entrance to this trail can be found off Taylor Rd in Westfield, NY.
Coxing Kill stream
This area at Mohonk Preserve in Gardiner has been a traditionally nudist area with even official posted signs about nudity. Unfortunately, they started enforcing New York nudity laws in 2020 though some still go nude in the area.
Stony Kill Falls
Stony Kill Falls is located in Minnewaska State Park Preserve. This New York nude swimming spot has a swimming hole where it is said that nudity is generally accepted. There is even an AllTrails guide to reaching the nude area.
Potter’s Falls
Nudity is reported to be accepted at a deep pool located below the waterfall in Six Mile Gorge. There is an AllTrail map for the path that leads to this spot in Ithaca, NY.
New York Nude Resorts for Naturists
These New York nude resorts and campgrounds are for naturists. They are family orientated so public sexual activity is discouraged. These can be very relaxing spots to visit and get the ultimate downtime in the buff.
If you are new to the nudist lifestyle, these resorts can be an excellent way to have your first experience.
When at a resort the New York nudist gets access to all of the amenities like the heated pools, hot tubs, bathrooms, etc. But more importantly, when you are at the resorts you chance to actually meet and make friends with other New York nudists.
Trust us when we say that there is no better way to go nude in New York than to hang out at these resorts. In addition to these resorts, you can find more nudist resorts in nearby Connecticut, Vermont Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey.

This New York nudist resort is an excellent family-orientated naturist spot. Empire Haven is a beautiful 97-acre campground located in the Finger Lakes area of New York.
This means that this is a nonsexual spot that is open to families including children. So this place is not a swinger lifestyle-friendly park in any of the public areas.
Please keep in mind that nudity is required in certain areas such as the pool and hot tubs.
If you are looking for a family-friendly naturist spot then this is probably for you. Empire Haven receives great reviews from users with most saying that they plan to return.
The amenities at Empire Haven include a heated swimming pool, large conversation hot tub, smaller hot tub, sauna, snack bar, pickleball courts, children’s playground, fishing pond, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and walking trails,
There are rental cabins, camping spots, and RV hookups available for overnight stays. The rates on all of these are extremely affordable. Camping sites start at $55/night for nonmembers. RV sites start at $58/night for nonmembers. Cabins start at $105/night for nonmembers.
Non-member day rates for Empire Haven are $35 for an individual and $40 for a couple. If you have overnight accommodations, these fees are included in your rate.
Full Tan Sun Club

The Full Tan Sun Club is a little naturist resort/campground in upstate New York. This is a family-friendly resort with nudity required in the pool areas.
While this is not the biggest location to visit, it does receive good reviews and has a loyal following.
Amenities at the Full Tan Sun Club include a pool, onsite cafe, yard games, and bonfires.
Nonmember grounds fees day rates to visit are $25 per day for a single and $45 for a couple. Overnight stays include grounds fees and are very reasonable. Cabins start at $85 per night, RV sites start at $45 per night, and camping sites start at $35 per night.
New York Nudist Groups
An additional option for naturists in New York is to utilize one of the local groups. These groups often host events and provide a great opportunity to meet and hang out with local naturist nudists.
These are naturist groups so it is important to remember that these groups do not promote sexual activity at their events.
Most of these organizations do not have an actual physical location to go nude but do sponsor events where they take over local places and you get the opportunity to have a nude experience.
Niagara Naturists
The Niagra Naturists is a group in western New York that promotes and holds several nudist events. While they are not technically one of the New York nude resorts, they do have a lodge with numerous events throughout the year.

This is another naturist organization that holds events and other nude fun opportunities throughout the year. Once again they do not have an actual physical location but they do sponsor takeover events at some local places.
The Other Type Of Nudist: Swingers in New York
When someone is looking for New York nudist resorts, it is important to take into account what you are looking for. A traditional naturist nudist resort is a completely different experience from a swinger clothing optional resort. Going to the wrong type may lead to some unexpected surprises for you.
In a nutshell, naturists nudists look at nudity as a natural state of being that is not tied to sex. Therefore these places can be family orientated and sexual activity is not encouraged or allowed. Swingers look at nudity as being totally about sexuality. Sexual activity is allowed and encouraged.
