Over the last few years, my wife and I have visited nude spots across the country. Vermont is known for its scenic mountains and that scenery includes some Vermont nudist resorts. So what is available for Vermont nude beaches and Vermont nudist resorts?
In general, Vermont offers quite a few nudist options for a small state. The state law is very nudity friendly which helps with Vermont nude beach options. There is one option for Vermont nudist resorts. There are also Vermont nudist clubs that have events so you can be naked in Vermont.
So let’s take a look at what is available for Vermont nude beaches, Vermont nudist resorts, and Vermont nudist clubs. You will find that this state has nudist options both right here and nearby.
Vermont Nude Beaches
According to the website findlaw.com, Vermont does not have any laws prohibiting public nudity. They do have laws prohibiting lewd and lascivious conduct which would make public sexual acts illegal but not just being naked in Vermont.
Of course, local jurisdictions may have enacted more restrictive ordinances, so be sure to verify that you are in the legal right before taking it all off.
Since Vermont has some of the most nudity-friendly laws in the country, this makes it easy to enjoy a quick skinny dip out in the secluded woods. This also allows the state to have a few publicly accepted swim spots where nudity is acceptable. These are the nude beaches of Vermont.
The Ledges

This is a free public access nude swim area located on Lake Whitingham in Wilmington, Vermont. This is a truly beautiful area with clear water. Visitors to The Ledges are from all different age groups. This is mostly a naturist-type location but draws all kinds.
If you want to be around other Vermont nudists then the Ledges is probably the best of the Vermont nude beaches.
It can get pretty busy here in the summertime. There is free parking and is close to outhouse-type facilities and picnic areas in the clothing required area.
Other Swim Spots
The Ledges seem to be the top spot in Vermont but there are some other spots that may appeal to you.
The Rock River in Newfane
The nude beach area is described as being just beyond the clothed swimming area.
On Google Reviews Sylvester Shine describes the location to be “park right before the bridge that crosses rock river going into Newfane on rt. 30 Ask someone for directions to the trail. It’s a 20-minute hike up Rock River to nudist areas. Trail is moderate difficulty.”
Red Rocks Park

The nude section is described to be on an area of flat rocks at the southwest corner of the park. A word of warning, South Burlington has a nudity ordinance so I do not recommend going nude here. You could run into legal trouble. I would prefer to go somewhere that I knew it was completely legal.
Southwest Cove on Lake Willoughby

Vermont nudists use the areas along the south side of Lake Willoughby. Use the parking lot off route 5A and follow the trail along the lake. There is no actual beach hear but a lot of secluded rocky areas along the tree line.
The scenery at Lake Willoughby is very beautiful and I am not just talking about the Vermont nudists.

Nudist Resorts in Vermont
We love visiting nudist resorts as relaxing at these spots is our favorite way to spend time in the nude. There are a few options for Vermont nudist resorts. One is a traditional family nudist resort, one for men only, and one adult-only nudist resort.
Additionally, New Hampshire is a relatively small state so don’t limit yourself to just being naked in NH as there are additional nearby options including some year-round ones in Maine, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts.

This Vermont nude resort is family-friendly. Amenities include a clubhouse, snack bar, hot tub, beach, hiking trails, and a volleyball court.
This resort receives very good reviews from across the internet. Almost all visitors find the stay to be relaxing and enjoyable. The facilities are reported to be rustic but well maintained.
The daily membership rate for the Coventry Club is $39 per day.
Coventry Resorts offers several different types of overnight accommodations at a very reasonable price. They have campsites at $15 per night.
RV sites run the range of pricing from $35 to $38 per night. For the rental units, the pricing runs from $70 -$125 per night depending on the accommodations. All prices are from the 2022 season.
If you are looking for a family-orientated option with Vermont nudist resorts then this is a good option to check out.

Unfortunately, Abbotts Glenn has permanently closed. This is really too bad as it was a great Vermont nude resort but they did close in 2021.
Gargoyle House

The Gargoyle House describes itself as “a clothing optional retreat for men.” Amenities at the Gargoyle house include rooms, a movie lounge, decks, a hot tub, a sauna, a gym, showers, and a sixteen-acre forest. Room rates range from $105 to $165. The facilities are very nice looking and look like a nice stay if this fits your lifestyle.
Vermont Freedom Campground

An adult 21+ clothing optional campground. This location seems to be mostly visited by gay men but all are welcome. The reviews are very positive regardless of the visitor’s orientation.
Do not immediately dismiss this as a Vermont nude resort/campground option. My wife and I are obviously not gay but we have had some great times hanging out at very gay-friendly venues. Trust me, no one is going to bother you.
They put on a ton of events on a regular basis here including a highly regarded drag show.
Rates for visiting the Vermont Freedom Campground start at $42 for a tent site and $46 for an RV site. The day pass fee is $20.
Nudist Clubs in Vermont
An alternative to Vermont nude beaches and Vermont nudist resorts can be the local nudist club. This club will put on events at different locations throughout the state during the year. This is a great way to meet up with other Vermont nudists and spend some time in the buff.

The Other Type of Nudists: Swingers in Vermont
When someone is looking for Vermont nudist resorts, it is important to take into account what you are looking for. A traditional naturist nudist resort is a completely different experience from a swinger clothing optional resort. Going to the wrong type may lead to some unexpected surprises for you.
